Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@amazingtailspetsalon.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

  • To qualify daycare dogs are required to be spayed or neutered and temperament tested. (Pups younger than 8-months-old needn't be spayed or neutered.) – Dogs not eligible for daycare may still board and will have a minimum of four and up to six 15 minute leash free spacious back yard rotations. To qualify for boarding, dogs must be temperament tested.
  • Proof of current vaccinations including distemper/parvo and rabies (every year or three years depending on the vaccinations your veterinarian administers)  Bordetella and have a negative fecal exam.  The Bordetella vaccine must be given a minimum of 7 days prior to any service.
  • Grooming vaccine requirements are same as above.
  • We do not accept home vaccinations, hand written vaccinations, sticker books, pet passports, breeder vaccines and require all vaccinations be administered by a licensed veterinarian.
  • Amazing Tails is a flea-free environment. If a dog has fleas or other external parasites, the dog will be bathed at the owner's expense.

**When we send dogs home from extended stays, especially new or seldom seen clients, we tell them that your dog will probably sleep for a day and a half to decompress. As long as they get up with normal energy to eat and potty all should be good. But, if you notice anything out of the ordinary or they become lethargic, consult your vet as boarding can be stressful even in a relaxed environment and bring out underlying issues.

  • All dogs must be healthy and current on vaccines for Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella (canine cough) & a Negative Fecal Test
  • All Cats must be healthy and current on vaccines:

              Rabies, Feline Distemper

  • We welcome puppies and kittens (16wks) who have received their complete three rounds of puppy/kitten vaccinations to come stay with us.
  • Elder, medically-challenged and/or other situations may exclude some requirements, please discuss with our staff.
  • All vaccinations must be current and can be verified by a licensed veterinarian.

If your dog exhibits any coughing, they must refrain from attending Amazing Tails for at least 7 days after coughing has resolved.

All puppies and kittens must be at least 16 weeks of age and have completed their first three series of vaccinations.

Cancellation & Appointment Policies

At Amazing Tails, our team reserves dedicated time for every pet. Because appointment times are limited and in high demand, we kindly ask that any appointment changes or cancellations be made at least 48 hours in advance. This allows us the opportunity to offer the appointment to another client waiting for services.

We understand that unexpected situations happen. To cancel or reschedule, please contact us by phone and leave a voicemail if we're unavailable, or send us an email. Messages received through either method will be accepted as your official cancellation notice.

Late Cancellation Fees

Appointments canceled with less than 48 hours' notice will be subject to the following fees:

  • First late cancellation: 30% of the scheduled service(s)
  • Second late cancellation: 50% of the scheduled service(s), and future      appointments will require prepayment.
  • No-Show Appointments:     50% of the scheduled service(s).

These fees help compensate our groomers and staff, whose schedules are reserved specifically for your pet.

Appointment Reservations

A valid credit card is required to reserve all grooming appointments. Cancellation fees, no-show fees, or other applicable charges will be processed using the card on file.

As a courtesy, we send automated appointment reminders approximately three days before your scheduled visit. Please note that reminders are a convenience and clients remain responsible for keeping track of their appointments.

Late Arrivals

We provide a 15-minute grace period for grooming and bath appointments. If you arrive more than 15 minutes after your scheduled time, we may need to reschedule your appointment or assess a $15 late arrival fee, depending on our schedule for the day.

We will always do our best to accommodate late arrivals whenever possible but doing so isn't always possible without impacting other scheduled pets.

Vaccination Requirements

For the safety and health of every pet in our care, we require current proof of the following before any grooming, daycare, or boarding services:

  • Rabies
  • Distemper
  • Bordetella
  • Negative Fecal Examination

To help protect your dog, vaccinations must be administered at least 7 days prior to your scheduled appointment.

If your pet arrives without the required vaccination records or has received vaccinations within the previous seven days, we will be unable to provide services. Because this prevents us from filling the reserved appointment time, the visit will be treated as a No-Show, and the applicable no-show fee will apply.

Holiday and Summer Boarding

Holiday boarding reservations require at least 7 days' notice for cancellations. Deposits for reservations canceled with less than seven days' notice are non-refundable.

Payment of Fees

By scheduling an appointment with Amazing Tails, you authorize us to charge the applicable cancellation, late arrival, or no-show fees to the credit card on file.

PAYMENT
Payment for all accommodations and services reserved will be paid at check-out. Amazing Tails accepts cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover.

Guide to Flea and Tick Prevention from PetMD.

A mat is basically a tangle of hair that has formed a knot tight enough to resist brushing and combing. . When the matting is very severe the only solution may be to shave them. In some cases, the matts can be brushed out, but it is a long stressful and sometimes painful experience for the dog. We do not recommend de-matting for older pets and first-time grooming puppies. Please check our pricing for dematting fees.

Info on matting from PetMD.

Believe it or not, dogs feed off of the energy of their owners. This makes the dog excitable and more time consuming to groom. More importantly, we cannot be liable for personal injury of a curious dog owner in a busy shop. So respectfully, we will have to ask you to wait outside until we are completely finished.
